Wheel Selection Guide

IMPORTANT:Please read the below information to ensure you understand the abbreviations and terminology for wheel purchases. In particular, check Size, Axle, OLD (aka axle width), Gearing and Brake Type as they can differ.

Size: Indicates ‘common wheel size’. This is the approximate size of the wheel, including the rim AND tire. Look at the original description of your bike or the current tire size on your bike for reference. DO NOT MEASURE JUST THE RIM FOR THIS SIZE. USE THE ISO MEASUREMENT BELOW.
Width ID: Internal width of the rim in MM or inches. Use this to determine the tire width range to fit on the wheel. For rims 15mm and under, the ratio is 1.5 - 2.5x. For rims wider than 15mm, the ratio is 1.5 - 3x. Be sure the tire width fits your frame to avoid rubbing.
Axle: Axle type. B/O = Bolt-on; QR=Quick Release; Thru= Thru-axle.
Rim Color: Color inner wall of the rim and, in some cases the sidewall. However, it may have a silver braking surface if it is labeled MSW (Machined Side Wall) next to the color. CHECK THE PHOTOS FOR ACCURACY OR CONTACT US.
OLD: Known as axle width. The axle width in MM between the fork dropouts or rear dropouts. Please measure your bike or hub to be sure.
Gearing: FW = Freewheel (thread-on type); Cass= Cassette (slide onto spline type); Int = Internal Geared Hub.
Brake Type: CB= Coaster Brake; Rim=Rim brakes, such as calipers and cantilever brakes (not disc brakes); 6B=6 Bolt Disc Brakes; CL=Center Lock Disc Brakes; CL/6B= 6 Bolt or Center Lock Disc Brake Compatible.
Wall:Type of rim construction. Sgl=Single Wall; DBl=Double Wall.
Valve: Type of valve hole in rim. SV=Schrader Valve; PV= Presta Valve.
ISO: Actual diameter of the rim (without tires) in MM. Use this if uncertain of the common wheel size above.
