I bought two of these bikes 12 months ago and after riding for 1 year have no complaints. We had one warranty issue with a bad motor and Mira at Bikes Xpress handled everything for us and referred us to a local bike shop and we were back on the road in short order. I would recommend using Bikes Xpress because they stand behind what they sell!

Mr.
I have been commuting by bike to work for the past 15 years but decided to buy an e-bike for my 79th birthday to make the hills easier to climb and arrive less perspired. I checked out electricbikereview.com, which provides in depth analysis of a very large number of bikes. The e-Joe Epik SE received a good review and captured my attention for several reasons: folding step through frame, relatively light weight, strong motor and good capacity battery, pedal assist and thrust modes, 7-speed derailleur, disk brakes and moderate price. I ordered the 2017 model from BikesXpress and it arrived well wrapped and in perfect condition. The bike appeared sturdier than I expected and was almost completely assembled and the battery charged. The derailleur and brakes were properly adjusted. All I had to do was insert the seat post and straighten and tighten the handlebars with the tool kit included. I have been enjoying riding the bike mostly in the low power pedal assist mode. Pedaling is effortless on flat terrain and still easy on hills. I can modulate the speed by stopping pedaling and coasting so that it is safe on bike paths with pedestrians, baby carriages, etc. I really like the sensitivity of the motor in the pedal assist mode – it starts with one crank of the pedals and shuts down almost instantly when I stop pedaling or apply the brakes. I don’t believe people realize that I am pedaling an e-bike because the battery is internal and the motor is relatively quiet. My commute is 3 miles each way X 6 times a week for approximately 35 miles total. At the end of this time the battery still has some charge left and I imagine that I could go back and forth one or more times but have not tried. With this routine I only have to charge the battery one time per week. The bike has a front suspension and the ride is smooth on good roads but can be a bit jolting on broken streets. I minimize this by inflating the tires to 50 pounds instead of the 60 recommended. Since I have been riding for only three weeks I can’t comment yet on durability. In summary the e-Joe has met and exceeded my expectations and am now enjoying my commute.
